THE BEGGINING When Yiannis Reppos was 14 years old, he worked as a trainee at a small boat yard that was constructed small wooden boats. Owned by Nikos Ktenas, a son of a refugee family from Smyrna, Minor Asia. Next to Nikos, Yiannis learned the boat construction art for almost a decade from 1959 to 1968. Nikos Ktenas died after a short illness and the widow rent the boatyard to Yiannis Reppos. It was is time to shine! He then undertakes the business himself and in a short time he becomes well known throughout Greece for his beautiful works. In the next 20 years, he built over 150 fishing and recreation vessels.
Based on high quality construction, Reppos boat yard is now engaged in constructing of high demand wooden vessels, wood or epoxy repairs, alterations and renovations of past years boats. Our vessels are custom made constructions, thereby we achieve the greatest possible satisfaction of customer needs while complying all the requirements of shipbuilding. NIKOLAOS REPPOS - THE SONNIKOS REPPOS NAVAL-ARCHITECT AND HEAD OF COMPANY
Nikos Reppos was born and raised in Volos, where he completed his high school education. He was a champion during his young age in men's coxless pair, men's double sculls and and men's coxless four.He served his military service for 22 months in the Hellenic Navy as an mechanical engineer in "Lelaps" fast attack vessel. \
He studied shipbuilding at Athens Technical University, from which he obtained his batchelor degree in Naval Architecture - Engineering. His academic knowledge combined with his more than 35 year experience, that acquired from his childhood working next to his father Yannis who was engaged in this business since 1958. Nikos Reppos is a member of the Technical Chamber of Magnesia and member of “Professional and Scientific Union of Technological Education Engineers of Greece” (EETEM). So far, he has designed and built many dozens of wooden vessels, fishing and yachts up to 24 meters. In 2006, he was head of the shipbuilding group that built the 29 meter replica of the ancient mythological ship "Argo". |
